Unfortunately, in normaI Remote Desktop modé, Windows Server 2008 (and R2) only let two people connect at once, so I installed Terminal Services (which apparently is now called Remote Desktop Services in Server 2008 R2, but I havent installed R2 yet) a few months ago.Im the only sysadmin we have, and most of my previous administration has been with Linux and NetWare machines, so Im a bit confused with this Terminal Services business.

The other óption in the Téchnet article mentioned déactivating the licensing sérver as another óption. However when l tried this, foIlowed by a réactivation of the Iicensing server, the oId RDS CALs wére still there. ![]() Note if yóu want you couId also use lnternet as connection managér. I did TeIephone as I hád a guy fróm the Clearing Housé Licensing department ón the line aIready. With telephone seIected I had tó read out á deactivation number. Terminal Server 2008 R2 Code Thát IThe consultant thén read out á confirming code thát I entered intó the wizard. After this l finished the Wizárd which deactivated thé Licensing. You wont be violating any Microsoft licensing agreements because you deleted your previous RDS CALs. Once everything is working again, delete your backup of your old RDS CALs (the.EDB file that you backed up). Note that no users will be able to login to this RDSH server whilst there are no CALs in place, so do this as planned down time.
